Sierra Atlantic Teams with Oracle to Deliver Enhanced Integration to Help Customers Drive Cost Reductions and Achieve a Faster Time-to-Market

Pre-built Integration Delivers Variant Management Capability to Oracle’s Agile Product Lifecycle Management Customers During Product Design Phase

April 16, 2010

FREMONT, CALIF. - April 16, 2010 - Sierra Atlantic announced today that the company has co-developed enhancements to the integration for Oracle's Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Design-to-Release Process Integration Pack (PIP).  Leveraging Oracle® Application Integration Architecture (AIA), this pre-built PIP now offers a rapid implementation process that integrates Agile PLM with Oracle Configurator along with the Oracle E-Business Suite.  The integration enables Agile PLM customers to manage design variants in Agile and synchronize the rules and variant configuration to Oracle Configurator for sales launch.  As a result, customers are able to manage configure-to-order and assemble-to-order more effectively.  Customers are enabled to provide more variations for different market segments without compromising on quality, compliance or margins. Sierra Atlantic is a Platinum partner in the Oracle® PartnerNetwork.

“It was a natural choice for us to partner with Sierra Atlantic based on their expertise supporting integrations involving Agile PLM and the Oracle E-Business Suite,” said Hardeep Gulati, Oracle Vice President, PLM and PIM Product Strategy.  “With this enhanced integration, we are providing a very differentiated flow for hi-tech and industrial manufacturing customers to effectively manage their design and sales configurations, which will provide higher revenue opportunities without compromising margins and quality.”

This updated PIP offers customers support for a seamless exchange of product-related content between Agile PLM and Oracle Configurator.  Customers can now release optional and model bills of materials in addition to the standard bills of materials supported as a result of the enabled Variant Management capability.  Additionally, the PIP now offers pre-release audit and synchronization of product information on demand and equips customers to design and apply the Oracle Configurator rules within Agile PLM.

“Sierra Atlantic brings proven business process knowledge gained from developing several PIP solutions for Oracle, plus experience with both Agile PLM and the Oracle E-Business Suite implementations to the project," said GK Murthy, Executive Vice President, Sierra Atlantic.  “Oracle’s Application Integration Architecture continues to deliver on the promise of an integrated solution stack for the manufacturing industry.”

Unlike traditional point-to-point integrations that are typically based on proprietary third-party technologies, the Design-to-Release  PIP for Agile PLM from Sierra Atlantic that leverages Oracle AIA provides a service oriented architecture (SOA)-based integration built on open standards.  It drives seamless synchronization of enterprise product records across the supply chain and extended product network. This enables:

  • Reduced time-to-market for new products
  • Improved product quality
  • Reduced supply chain disruption associated with new product introductions
  • Predictable and sustainable product and process integration
  • Lower total cost of ownership of Enterprise PLM platform
  • Reduced implementation risks.

Oracle AIA, which runs on the Oracle SOA Suite, provides a complete and open way for organizations to integrate end-to-end business processes across a broad range of custom, Oracle or third-party applications. Oracle AIA helps customers gain efficiencies, increase competitive edge and lower their total cost of ownership.
