Beyond Business
All activities of Sierra Atlantic are driven by its five Core Values: Family, Empowerment, Learning, Trust & Results.
It was but natural for Sierra Atlantic to have programs which takes care and provides relief to the community that is less privileged.
Sierra Atlantic has two such programs. One is the Company sponsored program called the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and the other program is known as MITR. MITR is a voluntary group which consists of employees of Sierra Atlantic.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The five core values - Family, Empowerment, Learning, Trust and Results enable Sierra Atlantic to embrace the larger community we live in. These values encourage us to extend our hands of help to the underprivileged and the unfortunate, who lack opportunities in life. CSR aims to instill among the employees the need for humanitarian service and gives them opportunities to empathize and affect the social, political and natural environments among citizens, especially those from the rural community. Corporate Social Responsibility is a business led activity in Sierra Atlantic and it is based upon sound business practices. The CSR team meets periodically to review and implement its projects and activities.
Replacement of Plastic bottles: Replacement of plastic water bottle with steel flasks. Every employee is provided with a steel flask with the Sierra logo and the caption "Say No to Plastic".
Paper cups to be replaced with ceramic cups: Beginning with the new financial year of 2009-2010, the employees will no longer be using paper cups for tea/coffee. Each employee is presented with a ceramic cup at the desk.
Solar lighting in the campus: The electric lights throughout the campus will now be replaced by solar lighting to conserve electricity.
Waste Management: A sewage chemical plant is set up behind the campus building. The waste is converted to manure which is used for gardening purposes. The water is 96% pure and is used for gardening.
Project Campus Green: Initiative has been taken to plant/transplant about 300 trees/plants around the campus to bring in the green effect. We have successfully re-planted close to 110 and the balance will be planted in conjunction with the monsoon onset.
Project Campus Green promoted tree plantation amongst Sierra employees. It was carried out at Sierra Campus in Hyderabad on 30th June 2008.
Support to School at Anthamagudem village: The CSR team has identified a primary school and a pre-primary care centre (Anganwadi) in Anthamagudem village. 15 twin bench sets were presented by Sierra Atlantic and are placed in the two class rooms. We have also undertaken and completed a compound wall construction for the school which will provide adequate security to the children in the school premises.
Drinking water problem at Anthamagudem village: The village is in dire need of drinking water and medical facilities. Efforts are being made to provide water treatment plant and open a health centre for primary health care.
During the ensuing quarters, the following activities have been initiated:
Medical Camp at Ligampalli Slum: Sierra Atlantic has adopted a slum consisting of 100-150 huts alongside the railway track near Lingampalli. Our focus of interest is to provide the residence with the basic medical assistance. A medical doctor has been appointed to visit this slum periodically. The residence will be given free medicine from a near by drug stores authorized by the company.
Ex-Service Men: A water cooler has been provided for the retired Ex-service men at their dental clinic in the cantonment area.
Schools: School bags, shoes and books were procured for under-privileged children through the Mitr group. This community concept of corporate social responsibility is taking new dimensions with more and more employees involving in the numerous social activities and ventures being undertaken. With a large percentage of the workforce being young and enthusiastic they are volunteering with utmost dedication and concern.
Environmental pollution and global warming are the challenges facing mankind despite the vast progress made in the name of development. Most governments and industrial companies now clearly realize that environmental issues are intertwined with social/ cultural and socioeconomic issues. Promoting economic growth with environmental and human health safeguards in place seems to be the path forward.
The Environmental Activity team, part CSR Group, will be taking the path to conserve the global environment and accomplish a sustainable society, and will be working towards making Sierra Atlantic become a ‘Green Company’ that lives in harmony with the global environment.
Green initiative: It is intended to incorporate as many green initiatives as possible. To preserve the greenery, 110 trees were re-planted from the centre of the plot to the periphery of the campus during construction. We have managed to achieve an eighty percent survivability rate. Additional plantation of 300 trees will be done around the campus as part of the horticulture plan. Sewage treatment plant is operational and the residue is being used as manure and water for the garden. All the pavers used are environment friendly as they allow seepage of water.
Energy Saving: Atriums are designed to allow a lot of natural light, reducing the consumption of electricity as part of energy saving. The building is so designed as to reduce heat from direct sunlight.
Built up area Vs Open space: One of the highlight of the campus is that the built in area occupies only 20% of the plot area while rest of the plot is planned to be green.
MITR
Mitr is a voluntary Help Group at Sierra Atlantic, lending a helping hand to the lesser privileged and needy of our society.
Initially the group was called "Sierra Atlantic Help Group”, when it was formed in 1998. In 2003, the group renamed themselves as "Mitr" and there has been no looking back since then. Today, there are about 100 group members who help in various activities through monetary contributions, visits and other required forms of support.
Mitr is able to raise its funds from Sierra Atlantic Employees through Monthly Contributions, Reserved Parking Campaign, manual collections & Fund Raisers.

The way you approach an engagement is great and I have yet to find it in another company and Ive worked with a few.
