Learning and Development (L & D) form an integral part of Sierra Atlantic’s commitment to assured quality of its products and services. To this end Sierra Atlantic is committed to its employees, in that, the company believes that all employees must have equal opportunity to develop their skills through learning and development. We have the L&D team based out of our India and China offices. The India L&D team also takes care of the global training requirement with the help of the HR representatives in our US, UK, Middle East and APAC offices.
We give the employees all opportunities to hone their skills in both the technical as well as the behavioral skills which are required to have the competitive advantage. The following are some of the activities which are carried out by the L&D teams in India & China for the employees.

Leadership Series
Executive Development Program/ Management Development Program
Sierra Atlantic has instituted these programs for employees at the management and senior levels respectively. As their decisions encompass the entire business operations, these programs extensively concentrate on areas such as policymaking, strategy formulation, decision-making, risk management, and leadership. The training is based on experiential learning, using the tools of exercises, games, simulations, discussions, talks, etc. Modeled in conjunction with the global structure, these programs aim at adding to the professional expertise of our employees. MDP focuses on enhancing Managerial Effectiveness while EDP focuses on strategic planning and leadership

Sierra Leadership Program
Sierra Atlantic believes in nurturing world-class leaders within the organization. One of Sierra's management commitment is to spot potential leaders amongst its employees and provide them with the wherewithal to take up additional challenges with this in view the managers entasked the training and development department to structure a tailor made program to infuse leadership and management skills amongst team and project leaders. This program named as Sierra Leadership Program (SLP) aims at imparting necessary leadership, team building and management skills.
The program focuses on enhancing and reiterating People, Process, Business development and Project management skills. Participants expand and enhance their perceptions and insights and are given the opportunity to develop their strategic as well as operational leadership abilities.
Emerging Leadership Program
As part of the process of identifying people for the SLP, a seed was sown in the form of a thought that a pool be created for people to be nominated for SLP.
It was with this thought that ELP is born. ELP is Emerging Leadership Program which is targeted to create pool of leaders who can be then nominated for the SLP program. These people would go through a series of programs which have been identified which will help them in managing their resources in a better way. Once they complete the ELP, they get into a pool from where they can be nominated for the SLP.

Employee Skill Enhancement Programs
NCG Program- New College Graduate Program
Under this program, we groom fresh college graduates and help them evolve into mature corporate professionals, ready to take up the challenges of the real world. The NCG program is a three-month program that focuses on refining the participants’ personal and people skills such communication, assertiveness, creativity, business etiquette, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and conflict management. We have successfully carried out 19 NCG programs over the last three years, and have more than 300 NCG’s working for us.
Finishing School
Today, business demands an in-depth understanding of customers and demonstrated thought leadership. To further enhance the customer facing skills in the employees “Finishing School” has been launched. This program will equip the employees and hone their skills further and thus help the organization in what we do best – Servicing Customers. The participants are chosen on the basis of their past performances and excellent customer facing abilities.
Bring Your Parents To Work
Sierra Atlantic recruits students from various colleges and these new recruits are called the New College Graduates (NCGs). One of the values that Sierra Atlantic as a company imbibes is the value of Family and this can be seen in our initiative, “Bring your Parents to Work”. Parents are always excited to see their kids do something for the first time ever, like…. the first step or the first day of school which marks a milestone in their lives. One such joyous moment for the Parents is the first day of work of their wards. To make this moment memorable for both the NCGs and their Parents, we invite the parents to the office and give them insight into the company’s corporate philosophy, culture and future. Following this practice has not only helped in building a sense of belonging in the employees but has also brought the trust and belief of their families into the fold.
Self-Study
Sierra Atlantic’s library is an excellent source of constant knowledge. We house a massive collection of technical and non-technical books, magazines, journals, and CDs to promote learning and self-growth. At the same time, we also use the library as an unwind corner while we take a few minutes off to browse through magazines and non-technical books.
Elearning
One of the important determinants that affect the organizational effectiveness is training and development of the employees. Sierra Atlantic (SA) believes that Learning and Development form an integral part of the organization’s journey to success. To this end SA is committed to its employees, in that, the company believes that all employees must have equal opportunity to develop their skills through training and development.
In this era of global expansion, companies must keep up with the demand of having trained manpower in a competitive way. The ability to keep the geographically separated workforce trained and updated has become a challenge for most organizations.
It is to address this challenge that E-Learning as a concept came in to existence. Class room training was the most accepted form of training however when it comes to training people who are on- site, E-learning is the best option for any organization to achieve the objective of conducting training programs for all it’s employees.
As part of the constant endeavor from the Learning and Development team to provide innovative learning solutions to our employees, we have come up with E-learning module. This would cover both technical and soft skills programs with an internal certification provided by Sierra Atlantic.

Talk Programs
Tech Talks
They say “Experience is the best teacher”. Imagine clubbing experience with expertise. It’s a sure shot medicine to greater efficiency at work. That’s what the employees got in the form of “Tech Talk” from their own competency head/subject matter. The competency heads/SMEs spend time with the participants sharing their experience & expertise in various domains.
Employee Connect
A very important aspect of a successful organization is the relationship shared by the top management with the employees. To further enhance this connect, the Learning & Development team is introducing an initiative- “Employee Connect”.
Employee Connect would be sessions taken by the Top Management on how they have grown in the organization and share their personal experiences. These sessions would be another gateway for the employees of Sierra Atlantic to interact with the top management and to get to know and understand the Person behind the designation. And for the management it will be an opportunity to get a pulse of the people
These sessions take place on 20th of every month.

Customer Focus Program
ABACUS
About Basics of Customer Service (ABACUS) is a 4 module program on customer service. The program is targeted towards making Sierra Atlantic a more customer focused organization. It is a organization wide program which will cover all employees. It is a fun filled program with lot of activities making it a little different from the rest of the customer service program. The program started with a Train the Trainer session being held for people who were identified to carry on this training for the entire organization. The trainers from various competencies and functions added more value and experience by way of their customer service experience.
This will go a long way in making Sierra Atlantic a more customer centric organization.

Extended Family Programs
Saannidhya
Saannidhya is a new and novel concept envisaged to emphasize on one of Sierra Atlantic core values – FAMILY. Family epitomizes togetherness, of standing by in times of need- helping without reservations or a second thought makes for a “tightly knit family” which is what Saannidhya is all about …and this we have set off by taking forward the same lessons into our corporate culture. Saannidhya plans to bring the complete family into the learning mode with a series of innovative workshops that covers aspects on relationships (better relationships make for better quality of life), parenting and nutrition.
Kid Artz
Kid Artz, a biannual event at Sierra Atlantic, is a wonderful opportunity to build valuable bonds and priceless memories with the children. At Kid Artz we celebrate and bring out the creative spirit and talent in children. Various workshops on Enhancing their creativity, Brain-muscle co-ordination & concentration etc are organized.
Women @ Work
A daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother.... she carries them all simultaneously with élan. An inspirer, the motivator, a consultant, a guide and with her single-minded dedication she makes sure that whatever she touches turns to gold.
Hers is the hand that rocks the cradle; the hand that rules the world. She has moved from the back seat into the boardroom.
Women’s Day at Sierra Atlantic is a day to honor all the women employees. The event involves workshops on “How to balance the Workplace and the Home front, beauty and health care. Cake cutting and fun filled games were part of the entertainment.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away…In the same way a good thought a day keeps the spirits up. The Learning & Development team started this initiative to give our employees a positive start to their day.
Session On Meditation
There are many motivations for meditating. For some it's to lower one's blood pressure, for others to reduce stress... some want to gain knowledge, others wish to use it to give up compulsive actions... and the list goes on. What happens if we are successful in acquiring what we strive for? Do we stop there? Are we satisfied?
These and many more questions were attempted to be answered in the meditation sessions.
Scholarship
A contribution made to the field of education influences many lives - both directly and indirectly. We believe that only a joint effort on the part of both academic institutions and industry can harness the available talent in the country, and realize the country’s ambitious growth plans. With the endeavor that no worthy student should be denied of for want of funds, Sierra Atlantic has taken a step forward to sponsor education.
Ashish has been named the “Sierra Atlantic Scholar” by ISB for the Class of 2009.
Empanelment Of Trainers
Sierra Atlantic provides learning opportunities and continuously develops the competencies of employees through various on the job and the off the job trainings. One of the unique aspects of Sierra Atlantic is to conduct a large number of in-house trainings. In this regard, we identified and empanelled the potential trainers who have relevant experience and competencies to offer in-house training in various technical and nontechnical programmes. This would help us to proactively arrange for trainings as and when required without any delay.
